Biopsy

So on Friday,I had a biopsy done on my lovely breast....NO WORRIES for all of you nitwits,Vincent had the same thing done to his back, and he was fine, and nobody worried,so I am not really understanding why all of my friends and Vincent are freaking out....It aint a big deal!...The hospital (one of the best in the country by the way) found something they did not like during my routine yearly mammogram, and since they had nothing to compare it to (my last mammogram was done at a crap hospital 2 years ago) the decided the safest thing to do,was a biopsy.
Now the biopsy lasted about an hour, and I do not wish this procedure on my worst enemies (well, maybe the supervisors at work....but thats another story....)but I survived....I will not go into details, because just thinking about it,makes me want to throw up,google it if you want to!
Now for the worst part.....me being the good employee, when I found out when the surgery was to be done (not my choice, but the surgeons...) I went to see a supervisor at work,to make sure all my paperwork was in order....and his EXACT words where: "IF you call on sick for this surgery, you will be fired,as the company you work for (no names mentioned here...) does not consider getting a biopsy as being sick...." my mouth dropped to the floor....so a woman can not get a biopsy done to see whether her breast is cancerous, without getting fired.....

So long story short,I spoke to someone higher up,and they advised me to put in for "family leave" which does cover biopsies, which my doctor and I did,but apparently the people at headquarters keep finding something wrong with the paperwork, and I have only 2 weeks (now 9days) to get the paperwork right to their specifications.......so here we go AGAIN.......

Now for all of you female nitwits out there...go get a mammogram done pronto!

Cooking

When Vincent came home tonight,he had a single rose for me....because he felt bad because of what happened to my bike....and he is cooking my favorite meal, spruitjes, karbonaatjes met boter en aardappelen....and we are listening to old songs from the 70's on youtube.....life can not get better...I love my husband.

New Bike Wheel

So this lovely Monday morning,I went downstairs to the LOCKED bike room in our building, and found my brand new bike vandalized.....and my front wheel was gone,stolen.....I called Vincent in tears....(Hey,I loved my new bike!) and he calmed me down....I left our residents a very nasty note (see pics) and we are installing a surveillance camera in there....We will catch the smeghead.

Lazy Sunday

On Sunday,we could not figure out what we wanted to do....Our original plan was to bike 30miles (and boy,do I wish we had,but more on that in the next post!) but we were lazy, and could not get our asses in gear.....and we were indecisive,so we decided to go to the groceystore, and we got a bottle of champagne,a bottle of red wine, pizza, nibbles and the NY Sunday Times, and laid in bed all day, watching Red Dwarf and House.....what a lovely Sunday!

Blues Fest

Yesterday Vincent and I decided to go to the Blues Fest in Grant Park....The music was fantastic, and even better was the fact that it was raining, which meant all the riffraff stayed away, and it wasn't crowded....we enjoyed our very expensive beers ($11 Stella's!) and great Blues, but then unfortunately the sun came out,and all the peasants came and it became way too crowded for us,so we hopped on the bus,and had dinner at the Duke!

Brussels

I finally worked a trip to Brussels, not really sure why I resisted going, because I had a blast!...Loved the hotel (windows open, which makes all the difference,Amsterdam can get so stuffy in the hotel rooms....) great free espresso in the morning.....and just being back in my "old"stomping grounds was so much fun!.....I had not been back for 26 years...(ouch,I feel old!) but as I was perusing Ave Louise,The Grand Place, and just wandering the little streets of Bruxelles with my colleague Ellen,I was so happy to be back......I think I might have to start bidding Brussels trips in July.......so much to do,and so many moule/frites to eat.......

Crabs and roses

Last night Vincent and I had a craving for seafood,so we went to our favorite "hole in the wall" for seafood,The Half Shell on Diversey....crablegs,calamari,oysters,french fries and a nice bottle of pinot grigio.....what a lovely evening!
On the way home,Vincent saw a beautiful bush of roses, and had to smell them.......

My new workout regime is to bike the Lakefront trail every other day.....That would be about 75miles a week.....not bad....I am starting to really love my bikerides, especially whilst listening to Miles Davis on my ipod....

Yeah Hooray!.....Went to pick up Vincent and Wayne from the airport today!......Wayne was working the flight, and made sure Vincent got a nice First Class seat (of course my seniority rules!) it was so good to see my boys back home!
As you can see from the photos,Dieudonne was very very happy to see daddy come home.....He was missed!
