BBQ at Marcellus

Marcellus and Petra invited us for a lovely (albeit "small" bbq!) on Sunday...Had a little too much red wine,as usual,but it was lovely to see our friends again....

Had a lovely week,tried two different new restaurants,one on Friday called Frasca in Roscoe Village,which was a pizza/winebar....We had a delicious farmers plate,martinis and red wine...and on Saturday we tried a Peruvian restaurant called Micchu Picchu (or something like that!) and I had a wonderful fish dish/stew.....mmmmmmmm

Wayne's new home

My best friend Wayne has recently purchased (at a very nice price!) a wonderful 1 bedroom on Lake Shore Drive on the 18th floor,with amazing views (especially the pool with the boys!) so he invited us to come on over on Saturday.

We are so happy that Wayne found this wonderful pad,he deserves every inch of it,it really is indeed a lovely home.

Saturday again

So our Saturday tradition of a nice breakfast is going very well,except yesterday my amazing husband not only made me a scrumptious breakfast,he also bought me a lovely bouquet of roses to go with breakfast.........

Just Us

Just some pictures I took last night.Vincent came home,I opened a nice bottle of Malbec,we both sat on the couch,relaxing with a nice glass of wine,and I thought to myself: How lucky am I to be married to Vincent....

Its good sometimes to be aware of your good fortune.

Cycling about 50miles a week and doing an hour of cardio at the gym is starting to pay off....now if I could only get my stomach to start looking like my legs......!

Today I decided to surprise my husband with homemade guacamole ( avocados,lemon juice,shallots and basil...yum!) and the wonderful mint juleps....
and a pic of Vincent at Tapas Gitana on Tuesday....

Mint Juleps and dinner

Yesterday,Vincent and I went out again for dinner ( Tapas Gitana on Halsted ) and even though we enjoyed ourselves,I think we both were a little tired of eating out so much.

So today,I decided to surprise Vincent.

As he walked thru the door,I told him to relax,put on his pj's and sit on the couch.I then came with a chilled glass of fresh Mint Julep,a drink known in The South.I had made fresh syrup with mint,put some crushed mint leaves,crushed ice,syrup and bourbon.....Vincent loved them!

Then,I made him a home made dinner.All of you must go to www.epicurious.com and find the recipe for Fettucine with Peas,Aspergus,and Pancetta......Oh my God,it was amazing! We ended up making it together,me naked in the kitchen,as it is hot as hell here,and the heat of the stove and me being in menopause made it just easier to be naked....

After dinner,Vincent and I laid on the couch,reading our favorite short stories to each other.

Life is good.

More good food

On Saturday,after our wonderful breakfast at home,we cycled to the Silver Cloud in Bucktown and had lunch (beer and tomato soup with a wonderful grilled cheese sandwich) then we cycled over to Lincoln Square,to buy some second hand books,and we cycled back home to relax.

At about 630pm we got hungry again,so we strolled on Broadway,until we decided to eat outside on the patio at a new Greek restaurant.It was lovely,we had a nice bottle of Retsina,a greek salad,taramasalata,I had the mousaka,and Vincent had the grilled mackarel......a lovely meal to finish off our Saturday.

On Sunday we actually both went to the gym,worked out and then went home to read our books,and later in the day,we had a lovely gourmet meal at home.....

Just a perfect relaxed weekend.....
