Update Two

Vincent and I both went to meet Dr Chekka this afternoon, and this wonderful fellow,Dr Khan very patiently explained what was going on in my lower back (for the first time) and with my MRI he showed us that the disc at L5 had actually come loose, and it was travelling upwards in my spine....

So it is a little hard to explain without looking at my MRI,but the disc has basically pushed itself out of its proper location, and is doing its own merry thing up and down my spine.

Dr Chekka said that by just looking at my MRI,he thought this person must be in a lot of pain, but seeing me walking and trepsing around,he was pretty surprised...

We decided NOT to get a 3rd injection, because it really would not be doing any good,if the first and second ones did not work...physical therapy would only strengthen my spine, but would not push the lose disc back into its place....so the only option is surgery....

I made an appointment with Dr.Rosenow, but the good doctor is a very busy man (always a good sign...) and will not be able to see me for a consult until May 3rd....

For the time being,I have been put on Lyrica,a powerful pain drug....

and the saga of the travelling disc shall continue...

Update on Lola

Today I had my follow up with the lovely Dr.Ramirez for my herniated disc, and we had a great conversation.
She called Dr. Chekka whilst I was there, and they both decided that I needed to come in tomorrow for a 3rd epidural lumbar injection.
Not looking forward to that,as I am not liking the side effects of all these steroids being injected into my spine, but the alternative is surgery, and I want to avoid that at all costs!
So off to the hospital tomorrow, and hopefully we will find the right spot!

Vincent

My beautiful Vincent.

Lola

It has been three days since the second epidural injection, and unfortunately I have not been feeling better...
I have another appointment with Dr. Ramirez on Thursday,so we shall discuss the results and next options...
I shall keep you informed.

Today though,it is a beautiful day here in Chicago, and Vincent and I are going for a nice walk and wonderful lunch.
Screw my leg and my back!

2nd Epidural Injection

I went for my second epidural injection yesterday with Dr. Chekka....
I already knew I had to have a second one,as the first one had not done its job....
Dr.Chekka (or his student, the lovely Ruby from Bombay!) noticed that I had also lost some strength in my right leg....so off we went to the injection room (albeit,I wore a better pair of knickers this time!)

It was a little different this time,as I have stopped taking the Gabapentin 10days ago (got tired of being high all the time!) and they decided to inject the l5/s1 level this time....

When it was done, and by the time I got home,I felt like a truck had run over me,and after Vincent came home (with orchids!) he put me to bed with half a vicoden....

Now it is morning....and I think I feel a little better...

We shall see...my next appointment is on April 5th.....

Leopard pj's!

Vincent had a little misshap with the bright blue pj's...so
I bought him some cool leopard ones....a little more manly!.....

New Chaise Longue!

Today,we were looking for some footstools for the red couch at the pink elephant....and look at what we ran into....this absolutely beautiful chaise longue.....we bought it on the spot (it was only $175!) and ran home to get the big black chariot (as I can not really carry anything heavy) and we rolled it home!.....

We LOVE it!...As do the puddies!....
The Hosjes are very happy!

Kidney stones in the family

A few weeks ago,we found out that Jacqueline had kidney stones, and needed surgery to remove them...
When Vincent was in his early twenties,he had a gigantic kidney stone removed (he still has a lovely and very sexy scar to prove it....)

So a few days ago,Vincent was grimacing when he was peeing (don't ask WHAT I was doing in the bathroom whilst he was peeing....married couples do that!) so I interrogated him,and he told me it felt like there was an obstruction in his urinary tract....and he had this shooting pain in his leg....

Hello!....I shipped him off to Dr.Ramirez asap (who has seen us more than we like to,and I made him promise me,to tell her, that we were NOT stalking her!)

So yesterday he saw her....and yes....most likely Vincent has kidney stones again....he has to pee through a sieve for the next 2 weeks (to see if any stones/grit come out...) and if it is still painful after 2 weeks,he has to go see Dr. Gonzalez the urologist to get the stone out manually....

She also took some blood from him, just to make sure it's not his prostate....but all the symptoms point to kidney stones,as he has had them before...and it runs in the family.....

So now I am making Vincent drink water like a lost man in the Arabian Dessert, even though Vincent thinks that drinking wine counts as liquids.....

and I am off to see Dr.Chekka on Tuesday, for another injection in my spine....

The Hosjes are falling apart!

Oh...and a picture of my eyes....why not!

I want to be a puddy.....

It's a puddy life....
