Polly and Creighton

Polly and Creighton came to stay at the B&B as a surprise gift from their children, for their 50th wedding anniversary...They are both in their 80's,still enjoying the good life, and still very much in love...We had a blast with them, such lovely people...

Vincent is really loving this new life and job, meeting such remarkable people and having the time to sit with them and talk about their life...

New Orleans

New Orleans on a sunny late October day...Vincent and I took a stroll down the French Quarter and had an amazing lunch at the Green Goddess...

This is Vincent's "baby"....He is so happy he gets to have his own herb garden!....

Scene from the park

Only in New Orleans will you find parks where people are working on their "tight rope" skills...

Vincent and Dieudone

Work,work and work!

The last couple of weeks have been all about work, work ,work and work!...No rest for the wicked...We are finally getting a little more organized ( see the photo below, with all of my boards...but hey,it works!...)

There is still a lot more to do...this past week I flew up to Chicago to fly a domestic trip...It took me quite a while before I managed to get a flight home, and it was exhausting....

Today was an easy day,so we are going to bed early....tomorrow we have a full house!

Going for a walk

I gave Rick and Lisa our pet stroller,as our boys would never go in there...and they loved it! They have two little dogs named Dixie and Jackson, who hate to walk....so Lisa and Rick put them in the stroller, and took them for a walk....Here are the results!....

The Dance

This is what we were taught to do,when The Saints score a touchdown...The Dance!

Lisa

Lisa and Rick, one of the owners (and our bosses) invited us to come and watch The Saint's play at their home.Their home was amazing,so homey and inviting!
We had a blast...we are so lucky to have them as our bosses!

Vincent happy!

Today,Sunday,Lisa the owner came over, and invited us to come watch The Saints play (American Football) over at their house....and she let Vincent drive her Mercedes....
I think my husband said that driving her car was like a having a mini orgasm......

What we do!

In addition to taking care of our guests,we also host "street fairs" for tour groups, this one was for a group of elderly lovely people.I have explained a little more in a post further down.

We really are loving our life!....

Street Fair at the B&B

Festival at the B&B

The last two days,we have been hosting a "street fair" at the B&B with a large well known tour group, who specializes in tours for the elderly (rich folks!) They come by our B&B and we have tables set up for them, with poboys, king cakes, soft drinks etc etc and then we have a group of Mardi Gras Indians who do a presentation and sing, and then we have a Brass Band playing. It is really amazing!

Rick, one of the owners dresses up in his "Southern Suit" and entertains the ladies and dances with them....
Rick, the most charming man I have ever met!

J Kennedy Toole

Vincent has always wanted to go visit the grave of his favorite author,John Kennedy Toole, whom is buried in New Orleans, and today we did just so....

Relaxing

On our first day at work,we had a flurry of activities, but early in the evening, things slowed down, and we managed to relax on the porch with a glass of wine....

Louisiana Residents!

Today,we did our final chore, which is getting ourselves Louisiana driving licenses...We had some trouble finding the DMV,but after crossing the mighty Mississippi a couple of times, and yelling at the stupid GPS,we found it...15 minutes later,we walked out,as fully fledged Louisiana residents!
Yeah Yeah!

We celebrated with a nice lunch of white wine and oysters at Desire oyster bar,and then returned to our new home, and relaxed.

The boys are getting used to their new residence, although Alaintje managed to get himself up the chimney...I heard some funky noises,so Vincent started looking, and saw Alaintje's butt hanging out of the chimney,so he grabbed his little bottom, and dragged him down....Alaintje thought it was very funny, and grinned from ear to ear!....

We have been introducing the boys very slowly to the outside (it is very quiet and peaceful here, unlike Chicago) and the boys are liking it!

Tomorrow we start being the innkeepers.....
