Festival at the B&B

The last two days,we have been hosting a "street fair" at the B&B with a large well known tour group, who specializes in tours for the elderly (rich folks!) They come by our B&B and we have tables set up for them, with poboys, king cakes, soft drinks etc etc and then we have a group of Mardi Gras Indians who do a presentation and sing, and then we have a Brass Band playing. It is really amazing!

Rick, one of the owners dresses up in his "Southern Suit" and entertains the ladies and dances with them....
Rick, the most charming man I have ever met!

J Kennedy Toole

Vincent has always wanted to go visit the grave of his favorite author,John Kennedy Toole, whom is buried in New Orleans, and today we did just so....

Relaxing

On our first day at work,we had a flurry of activities, but early in the evening, things slowed down, and we managed to relax on the porch with a glass of wine....

Louisiana Residents!

Today,we did our final chore, which is getting ourselves Louisiana driving licenses...We had some trouble finding the DMV,but after crossing the mighty Mississippi a couple of times, and yelling at the stupid GPS,we found it...15 minutes later,we walked out,as fully fledged Louisiana residents!
Yeah Yeah!

We celebrated with a nice lunch of white wine and oysters at Desire oyster bar,and then returned to our new home, and relaxed.

The boys are getting used to their new residence, although Alaintje managed to get himself up the chimney...I heard some funky noises,so Vincent started looking, and saw Alaintje's butt hanging out of the chimney,so he grabbed his little bottom, and dragged him down....Alaintje thought it was very funny, and grinned from ear to ear!....

We have been introducing the boys very slowly to the outside (it is very quiet and peaceful here, unlike Chicago) and the boys are liking it!

Tomorrow we start being the innkeepers.....

The Joint

Today we decided to explore The Marigny and The Bywater by bike, since it was a beautiful fall day here in New Orleans. We stopped for lunch by this BBQ place called The Joint, which was a shack in The Bywater, with the BEST chicken and pulled pork sandwich both Vincent and I ever have eaten....

Only in New Orleans, the city with a soul....

First couple of days.....

We have been in New Orleans for two days now,and got a lot done.Thank budha we do not start working officially until the 4th (thank you to our new bosses!) so we have a couple of days to settle in and get things done.

Yesterday we got the Lolamobile registered and got Louisiana plates, unpacked some more boxes and got the boys more settled.Dieudone is finally back to her normal self, telling Alaintje what to do,and little Alain is happily looking at the birds and trying to find some mice...

All is well in Casa Hos!
