SAM HARRIS

Today,Vincent and I waddled over to Hyde Park to hear the awesome Sam Harris speak at the prestigious University of Chicago.
We decided to go a little early and have lunch and explore some of the wonderful bookstores in Hyde Park.
We had lunch at Medici's,a cafe Marcellus had mentioned. The cafe itself was quite quaint,it reminded me a lot of a Dutch gezellig cafe.I mentioned to Vincent, how,if this cafe had been in Lincoln Park,it would have been full of huppelkutjes blabbing nonsense on their cellphones, and basically irritating the crap out of me.However here, the cafe was full of academia, young people having intelligent conversation....
How refreshing...

We finished lunch, and ambled over to the bookstores, bought some books and then it was time to go see Sam.

The impromptu presentation by Sam was attended by about 50 people, students, professors and giddy Vincent and I.
Sam spoke for about twenty minutes and then the floor was opened up to questions....
Now,I ain't no nitwit...however these so called students were posing some rather lengthy, non sensical questions, that this Montessori child could have posed in a much simpler way...
I think these kids think that the more complicated the words are,the smarter they sound...Wrong my dear children...But Sam,as patient as ever, answered the best he could, and a fine job he did.

My final thought on this wonderful experience is that although Mr Harris is an amazing and certainly a very smart young man,I find him not to be a very engaging speaker (could be,once again,my Montessori child coming out) however he is the best and certainly the most interesting debater there is.

Next time,I would like to meet up with Sam in a more relaxed setting, like in a wine bar,on a comfortable couch,a glass of wine, some cheese and jambon, with Vincent,Salty and Jerry.

Now there is a perfect wish...
Don't wishes come true sometime?....
