When we returned from our tour at 5pm,Lisa and Rick (the other partners-our boss!) where at the B&B,waiting for us with two bottles of champagne,to welcome us (they had just returned from a vacation in Mexico) then Amy and her husband George arrived with more drinks,so it became a little welcome party, until the four "partners" retired to one of the cottages, for a meeting, and Vincent and I relaxed in our quarters.
Then we saw that the "partners" had left in one car,and as Vincent and I were getting very hungry, but we did not know if we could leave the B&B,as we still had our two mystery guests who were coming. We decided to go to the grocery store, buy some poboys, and quickly return to the B&B.We did this, and it is now about 830pm,we are all relaxed, drinking some beers and eating our poboys, and I was just telling Vincent, that there is no way that these mystery guests are still coming,I mean, who does not answer their cell phone for 24hours?....
And just as I am getting comfortable...Dring Dring Dring....the front gate rings...and yes,our mystery guests arrive!....I jump up,try and find the keys to their cottage, fill a bottle of water (its what we give our guests) Vincent is struggling trying to get his shoes on,runs outside to meet the guests,I am running to the cottage, trying to open the damn door, not being able to find the outside lights,so it is pitch dark,I finally get the door open, and now I have no clue where the damn light switches are....Vincent arrives with the guests...I am still falling over everything, trying to get the damn lights on....It certainly was a scene from "Faulty Towers"!....
Thank God, the guests were exhausted (they had ridden the train in from New Jersey, and apparently there had been a "terrorist" on the train, which had delayed everything...) but now they were starving.....well bloody hell...how the heck am I supposed to know where anything is in this strange city?.....Vincent to the rescue....he calmly told the guests that he would be more than happy to walk them to our grocery store, and they could get some food/sandwiches there...
So off goes my wonderful husband,in the dark,at 9pm with our guests to the grocery store.....
At this time Amy and the partners come back from their dinner, and are very impressed with how we handled everything ( I am still panting and behaving like Basil Faulty....!) Amy promised us she would be back in the morning to cook breakfast for the guests,as we are not trained for kitchen duty quite yet.......
We survived our first check in ....mostly in thanks to my amazing calm husband.....he keeps surprising me.......
